Yesterday we were able to witness some amazing performance by Indian team against Zimbabwe, Vietnam and Uzbekistan.
Against Zimbabwe, First Round.
This were the following matches
In board 1 and 2,
Vidit Santosh Gujrathi VS Roy Mwadzura.
Arvindh Chithambaram VS Cyrill Chigodo.
In Board 3 and 4,
Kulkarni Bhakti VS Linda Dalitso Shaba.
Vaishali R VS Kudznayi Charindra.
On Board 5,
Nihal Sarin VS Farai Hamandishe
On Board 6,
Divya Deshmukh VS Refidae Mudodo.
Result-
India beat Zimbabwe 6-0 (Vidit S Gujrathi beat Mwadzura Roy; VR Aravindh Chithambaram beat Cyril Chigodo; Bhakti Kulkarni beat Linda Shaba; R Vaishali beat Charinda Kudzanayi; Nihal Sarin beat Hamandishe Farai; Divya Deshmukh beat Mudodo Rafiloe Hazel).
An outstanding performance by India. Outclassing and having a great start to the tournament.
Some key features includes the amazing game of our Captian Vidit Gujrathi with Sicilian Defense never giving a chance to his opponent.
Whereas Divya Deshmukh clutching at the last by awesome tactical plays leading to a 6-0 victory.
Against Vietnam, Round 2.
These were the following matches.
On Board 1 and 2,

On Board 3 and 4,
Koneru Humpy VS Thao Nugyen Pham
Harika Dronavalli VS Hoang Thi Boa Tram.
On Board 5,
Nihal Sarin VS Anh Khoi Ngugen.
On Board 6,
Divya Deshmukh VS Bach Ngoc Thuy Duong.
Results-
India beat Vietnam 4-2 (Vidit Gujrathi drew with Liem Quang Le; P Harikrishna drew with Ngoc Truong Nguyen; Koneru Humpy beat Le Thao Nugyen Pham; D Harika beat Thi Bao Tram Hoang; Nihal Sarin beat Anh Khoi Nguyen; Divya Deshmukh lost to Nogoc Thuy Duong Bach).
Continuing the performance India won against Vietnam having 3 victories 2 draws and 1 loss.
Some key moments came during Nihal Sarin's match VS Anh Khoi Nguyen as the Master Trickster fought until the end practically making it a bullet and coming up on top by checkmating the opponent.
Divya though lost due to timeout had some connection issue was in a good spot and was seeming to win the match.
Where as coming to Humpy Koneru's game was amazing with her moves whereas both Vidit and Harikrishna was able to sneak a draw after an equalish game ending the final result to be 4-2.
Against Uzbekistan, Round 3.
These were the following matches.
Board 1 and 2,
Viswanathan Anand VS Nodribek Abdusattarov.
Harikrishna Pentala VS Nodribek Yakubboev.
On board 3,
Humpy Koneru VS Irina Gevogryan.
Harika Dronavalli VS Sarvinov Kurbonboeva.
On Board 5,
Praggnanandha R VS Iavokhir Sindarov.
On Board 6,
Vantika Agarwal VS Yakubhaeva.
Results-
India beat Uzbekistan 5.5-0.5 (Viswanathan Anand drew with Nodirbek Abdusattorov; P Harikrishna beat Nodirbek Yakubboev; K Humpy beat Irina Gevogryan; D Harika beat Sarvinoz Kurbonboeva; R Praggnanandhaa beat Javokhir Sindarov; Vantika Agrawal beat Nilufar Yakubbaeva).
A brilliant performance by Indian team,
Harikrishna along with others dominated the opposition, but the highlight was the match between the legend Viswanathan Anand and Nodribek Abdusattarov. What a battle of the generation, an 14 year playing 5 time world champion. Anand had a slight advantage but the fantastic play by the young lad was able to drew the game.
A dominant India notched up three easy wins against Zimbabwe, Vietnam and Uzbekistan respectively in the FIDE Online Chess Olympiad on Friday. India defeated Zimbabwe 6-0 and rolled over Vietnam 4-2 but the highlight certainly was win against Uzbeks by 5.5-0.5 margin. Winning each round got India two points taking them on top of the pool with six points while they also have the best game points 15.5 after 18 matches. India is on top of the standings followed by China with an equal number of round points (6) but fewer game points (13.5) and Germany in third also with 6 points (11.5 game points).
Hope that Team India in the captaincy of Vidit Santosh Gujrathi will play like day one and win this tournament.
Day 2 have their own challenges and from now on the matches will be more difficult. India wll be facing Indonesia, Iran and Mongolia on 22nd August.
