Father's Day

Team Atverts wishes all the fathers a very Happy Father’s Day! They will always remain their little girls’ first hero.

Papa,

At seventeen, at the cusp of adulthood,

I am almost Ready to fly now,

To step out,

And make my mark in this world,

But I'm not really sure,

Whether I really want to.

This world is cruel papa,

It crushes the dreams that try to take flight,

Along with the dreams yet to be born.

Was it always this hard papa?

Why, I never knew....

I never could, even if I had wanted to.

How did you do it papa?

Hide it all, behind that easy smile....

That carefree laugh,

That ebullient persona.

And That's why you are,and forever will be,

my superman,papa.

You will forever be an enigma papa,

One the world knows but little,

But I do. I know it all now.

Those little nuances,

That stern faced concentration when you worked,

The intellect and charisma you expressed on stage,

That endearing smile,

Your boisterous laughter,

Your not-so-funny jokes, yet that still made laugh so hard.

Papa, your are the most versatile person I know.

Now , at seventeen,

Cynical and jaded already,

You are a constant reminder,

Of when I was little,

Dreaming of fantastical lands and magical creatures,

With possibilities abound in every corner I could see,

And your shoulders were the highest place I could be.

Fast forward a few years,

I am still the same person,

Maybe a little older, a little broken,

A little wiser....

Yet that little me is still the same,

Maybe buried in dreams

Of navieté and imprudence,

Ones That I wish to forget.

But you were always there papa,

You never let me fall.

You held my hand through the darkest of nights,

You were my anchor in a stormy , turbulent ocean,

A mentor. A friend . A guide.

And as I fly,

It's on your wings

I shall soar,

Beyond the horizon....,

To all those fantastical lands you told me tales of,

I shall show you,

All of those and more.

And I shall always carry your bear hug with me papa,

Wherever this journey takes me papa,

As they are the warmest memories I own.
