Team Atverts wishes Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there! You all are extremely important in every child’s life!
I write about Baba so often
that the new city
is even tired of missing him
My baba and I
don't see each other often,
He lives in the city of tea
in a small house among the tea gardens,
in the 'Ghar', I grew up.
I write about Baba so often,
Cause on a late rainy evening,
I miss him humming
along his favorite Playlist
of Kishore, Lata and Rahman,
The list which Saavn played for us
on every rainy evenings.
over a cup of hot Assam tea.
I write about Baba so often,
I think of him
how he used to laugh at his own jokes,
And made delicious tea on early mornings,
while I slept on my study.
I write about Baba so often,
He breaks down easily,
and opens out to me,
in his black days.
He took me to
college and coachings
in heavy Assam rains.
He reads me Vivekananda,
and Socrates and Plato
and embraces me with his words,
when I cry.
I write about Baba so often,
I think of him
while listening to 'rimjhim gire sawan'
and diaries stored in a dusty corner
and books he loved reading.
He is getting old
with wrinkles defining his age.
the happiness in his face
glorifies again
when he sees me
back to home.
So when the new city rebukes me on some days,
I listen to his favorites on Spotify,
It renews 'our ' moments
and sometimes I even write while listening,
just like the words of this poem.
