International Talk like a Pirate Day
Well, "International Talk like a Pirate Day" is much like Halloween. On this interesting day, people dress up & talk like pirates.
This day was first celebrated in 1955 by John Baur & Mark Summers. It is sometimes said that during a game between John Baur & Mark Summers one of them fell & cried out "Aaarrr" (commonly told by pirates) in pain. This gave them the idea to celebrate such a day. They chose to celebrate this day on Summer's wife's birthday. They first thought they would celebrate this day as a joke between the two friends but later this day became famous when humor columnist Dave Barry promoted the day in 2002.
Now it has become an international holiday & is celebrated in the following ways:
● Dressing up like a pirate & some of the people even carry a toy parrot/monkey with us, just like the pirates.
● Talking like a pirate & using pirate words.
● Watching movies & reading books related to Pirates indoors
● Hosting a pirate game party with friends & family with the dress code as "Pirate's clothes"
