'Tis The Season Of Love
Updated: Jan 26, 2021
WINTER
If a girl and a boy
Meets under their imaginary
Comic ideas of romance
And if they are less scientific
And more hopeless romantic
They'll understand that
Winter is the best time
for falling in love .
I know this because
We met in winter
Under the candle lit darkness of December
We held hands under the
Warmth of our blankets.
In this way our laughter
And chuckles creep in between
the lonely curtains of my room
post break-up. I turn nostalgic
because post breakup
I have seen you making
Latte to her
And oh! ‘How is she?’
Do you even tell her how
Thick lips and lazy snuggles
Make you drowsy in winters.
“I am sick,I'll lie down to you"-
You said to hide in
Your flawless laziness.
I wake up early in winter mornings,
And I hear the Christmas bells chime
The glassy windows
in my pitch dark bathroom
Sees your reflection
in its hazy face
and it irks me so much
That I put it with
the broken martini glasses of my garage.
I call it fatal and say
That the winter mist
Has made the glass go hazy.
I go according to our morning’s routine
And I feel your cheekbones
Gliding against my lips
Until at night,
Your palms seem wonderfully solid
But I held comforts in my coffee cup
As in the other side of the bed
You don’t even exist.
Your body feels
Like sand , it faints away in dribbles.
I hear a voice like your voice
And lying on the couch
He speaks a language like I do
And says that-
“If a girl and a boy
Meets under their imaginary
Comic ideas of romance
And if they are less scientific
And hopeless romantic
They'll understand that
Winter is the best time
For falling in love .”
