National Random Acts of Light Day

At pen- Oindri Kundu

The small girl sat on the farthest bed,

A thousand thoughts running through her head,

A small drop of tear,

And a heart full of fear,

What is going to happen next?

Will she ever receive rest?

What will the doctors say?

Will she live to see another day?

All these thoughts racing in her mind,

Her hair became messy with the blowing wind,

Soon there will no hair to be messed up,

And she will fall in a deep sad rut.

What will her future hold?

Either way she will have to be bold.

What could she actually do?

Nothing that could make her feel good.

At the end of the hallway,

A person stood tall and brave,

Her mother strode in her room,

With not even a tinge of gloom.

She smiled and laughed,

The care she felt shone in her eyes,

While love filled her heart,

As she knew she wouldn’t break any of her ties.

Her mom became the light,

Her mom became the reason she was willing to fight,

She fought and fought,

Tried never to get caught,

In this circle of life.

She tried to live as much as she could,

Without having to ever be rude.

Her mom showered her with acts of kindness,

Her daughter showed her mom her equal fondness,

They went through all of this together,

They did not wish to have the presence of another.

They both were always there for each other,

After all, they were daughter and mother,

With a relationship that none could alter.
