At Pen: Ananya Kundu

Argentina means Maradona, Maradona means football.

Yes, today Diego Armando Maradona, mostly known to all of us as Maradona, who is generally regarded as the top footballer of 1980s and prince of football is no more. He showed that how a game of Football can be an identity of a Country. Renowned for his ability to control the ball and create scoring opportunities for himself and others, he led club teams to championships in Argentina, Italy, and Spain. As far as the information given, Argentinian legend died at home, just three weeks after having surgery on a blood clot in his brain.

Let’s not forget his record-breaking achievements. In his international career with Argentina, he earned 91 caps and scored 34 goals. Maradona played in four FIFA World Cups, including the 1986 World Cup in Mexico where he captained Argentina and led them to victory over West Germany in the final, and won the Golden Ball as the tournament's best player. His performance in the 1986 World Cup was one of the best in history. His death is a great loss for the world of football. We have lost the prince of football.
