*World Pneumonia Day*
Pneumonia is known to be the single biggest infectious killer of adults and children. It has claimed the lives of almost 2.5 million, including 672,000 children, in 2019.
12 November is celebrated as World Pneumonia Day and aims to raise awareness about this deadly illness along with advocating for global action in order to gain protection against it.
This particular day was established by the Stop Pneumonia Initiative in 2009 in order to raise awareness about the disastrous toll of lives that pneumonia has taken.
This year, World Pneumonia Day, will be held during a global pandemic that is drastically increasing pneumonia deaths from COVID-19 as well as other causes. Thus, it has become very important to raise awareness about pneumonia which can easily be called the world's leading infectious disease.
