You might as well live
At Pen:
On World Mental Health Day
Razors pain you
Rivers are damp
Acids stain you
And drugs cause cramp
Guns aren’t lawful;
Nooses give,
Gas smells awful,
You might as well live.
Hey stranger.
Today on mental health awareness day,
I am sharing this poem Resume' by Dorothy Parker, not to invoke in you the sense of negativity or to list down few of the common ways you could possibly give up on yourself.
But for a very different reason.
At some point or the other, we all feel lost. We feel like giving up, we feel just not that strong enough, to deal with the complexities life thrashes us with.
Well , when your life is just one moment away from death. When you can really see what they call in movies as flashbacks of your life's best and worst moments . That is the second you realise how important it is to take one more breath. How important it is to give one more smile. Or how important it is to love people the way you always wanted to feel loved.
That moment when you cut your veins , and blood ozzes out of your wrist ,and you are
Covered in crimson.
You feel the pain is momentary, it's gonna end, but what if you make it.. ?
What if, a pause and (r-e-s-u-m-e) , could heal your sufferings or maybe give you the strength to comeback brighter and shine.
Because you know what . Nothing is more beautiful, than the gift of life !
The scars will always remind you of
The bad memories, the sulking insides.
The disappointments , the craving to turn numb.
We all have our parts of anguishes
We all suffer, and pain sometimes reveals the best of our sides.
When we are asked to jump off our comfort zones , that's where the real test lies ( survival of the fittest) .
That's how we thrive.
The last line , very beautifully expresses,
*You might as well live!*
And you won't like it.
No one likes , giving up on their lives.
The choice is yours, but the next time you decide to end your life.
Just try to remember.
Take a moment and sigh.
What if you can make it ?
What if it's just a matter of time.
And who knows ?
What's waiting for you on the other side.
Love,
Someone
who literally cares.
